Capacity Building

for NDIS Participants

Positive Step provides mobile occupational therapy services across Perth to support adults in building practical skills, improving independence and increasing participation in everyday life. Through capacity building and rehabilitation supports, we work alongside you to develop strategies that are relevant, achievable and aligned with your goals.
Living with a physical disability or recovering from injury or illness can make everyday tasks more challenging. Our therapists focus on helping you regain confidence in daily activities, with support that is tailored to your environment and priorities.

What is capacity building and rehabilitation?

Capacity building is about strengthening your skills, confidence, and independence so you can take part in the activities that matter to you. Under the NDIS, capacity building supports are designed to help you develop or regain abilities in areas such as:
  • Daily living skills (e.g. dressing, showering, cooking)
  • Mobility and transfers
  • Cognitive and executive functioning skills
  • Community access and participation
  • Communication and social engagement
  • Managing fatigue, pain, or energy levels
Our occupational therapists work with you to maximise your physical, cognitive, and functional abilities while also supporting you to adapt to any long-term changes. This may include:
  • Structured rehabilitation programs
  • Functional retraining and skill development
  • Graded activity programs
  • Environmental and task modifications
  • Fatigue and energy conservation strategies
  • Equipment prescription to support recovery and safety
Our approach balances restoring function with finding practical strategies to support independence now and into the future.
