Positive Step occupational therapists are highly experienced and dedicated to service provision. We are different from everyone else because:

We are Person – centered

All of our staff are highly experienced, senior occupational therapists

We come to you – wherever you are or wherever you want us to be.

We are guided by best practice and dedicated to continuing professional practice.

Positive Step occupational therapy interventions can include:

  • An individual assessment enabling us to get to know you and determine your goals in consultation with family and carers.
  • Personalised intervention to improve your ability to perform your activities of daily living and reach your goals.
  • An evaluation to ensure that goals have been met and to make changes to existing goals or create new ones.

Examples of our assessment and interventions include comprehensive assessment of the environment (home/ workplace), recommendations for adaptive equipment and training in its use and education/ guidance for family members and carers.

What is occupational therapy?

Defining occupational therapy is a challenge because our goals reflect the lives and passions of our clients – we do a lot of everything! We help you to define your goals and we will work together to achieve them.

Occupational therapy is a health science degree-based profession, regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA).  Occupational therapy takes a whole-person approach to both health and wellbeing, enabling individuals to achieve their full potential.

Occupational therapists help people participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations). These interventions help to increase people’s independence and satisfaction in all aspects of life.

“Occupation” refers to practical and purposeful activities that allow people to live independently and have a sense of identity. This could be an essential day-to-day task such as self-care (showering, dressing, preparing meals) work or leisure.
